Qionghai DAI

Professor

Qionghai Dai worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University from 1997-1998. Since 1999, he has been with the Department of Automation Tsinghua University as a faculty member, and is currently a Tenure Professor.

Research interest

He has been working on theory and key technologies of high dimensional visual information processing, including computational optics and microscopy, computational photography, multi-view 3D reconstruction and stereoscopic video, synthesis vision and its applications in navigation, theory and applications of compressive sensing & sparse representation, image (video) retrieval and mining. He has made pioneering and foundational progress in stereoscopic video and streaming media technologies, and their engineering applications.

Selected publications

He has authored or co-authored 100+ conference and journal papers, (56 journals papers indexed by SCI). He has published one book and translated two books, holds 62 Chinese invention patents and 3 USA invention patents.

Awards

He received China National Funds for Distinguished Young Scientists in 2005, and was awarded Yangtze river scholars Distinguished Professor in 2009. He was the chief scientist of a "973" project in 2010, and selected in National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in 2014. He was awarded first prize of National Technology Invention Award (rank first) in 2012, and second prize of National Technology Invention Award (rank first) in 2008.
