Research Area

We are interested in different aspects of transcriptional gene regulation, and mainly focus on R-loop biology. R-loops are special chromatin structures involving a single-stranded DNA and an ssRNA-ssDNA hybrid, and occur naturally during transcription. We will use Arabidopsis and rice as model systems to investigate fundamental questions in R-loop biology, such as R-loops formation, stabilization and resolution, and how R-loops are able to affect transcription regulation and genome instability. We are also interested in the area of plant epigenetics and epigenomics.
